Story Corner
I know I’m a little behind everyone else on posting my monthly column, but better late than never. It took me awhile to figure out what to write about. I still don’t know that I’ll do the story justice, but I’ll do my best. I hope that as time goes on I’ll get better at finding good stories and narrating them properly. But, ready or not, here it goes:
I was talking to Aunt Sue on the phone the other day and just listening to her tell me some stories from her childhood. She told me a story about Aunt Edith and one about Uncle Donnie. I expressed to her my difficulty in choosing a story to write about on the Martin Box. All at once she exclaimed, “Oh, I have a good one about Uncle Donnie!”. I listened carefully and, at the end, agreed that it was perfect for my very first column.
She recalled that one summer Uncle Donnie came home sporting a new do. He had gotten so hot, that he decided to give himself a little hair cut. His hair was already cut short, so he couldn’t cut it very well. Instead he decided to trim his eye lashes a bit. “And he had such beautiful, long eye lashes!”, Aunt Sue recalled. When they asked him what had possessed him to do such a thing, he simply replied that he’d been hot.
I found this pretty funny. I don’t know if anyone else will or not. What I want to know is, how do you cut your eye lashes? Think about it, that must be pretty hard to do. If anyone’s interested, I’m sure Uncle Donnie would offer lessons. It’s a miracle he didn’t damage his eyes!
And that’s it for my first column. I hope it wasn’t too lame or something. I’ll work on it and try to make next months better. Just bare with me while I try to get my routine worked out. Love to all!

I can just feature Donnie Earl doing this in hopes of being cooler. Loved your first story. I told Paula that my hopes on this site – was to be good enough to be syndicated. Yeah Right. Love you a bunch.
Kat,
I like the name of the column (wink wink). Also, great first story, it made me laugh. Let me know if you need any stories I am sure I can come up with some. Great job, love you!
Thinking of Sue tell this story – it brought to mind that Sue used to say that I would not share my toys with her when we little. I had a black and white cop car (the kind that had that big red light on top) that she said she always wanted to play with – and I would not let her do so. I guess since I was an only child I thought I did not have to share. Memories – it is so good to have them.
I asked Aunt Sue about it, and she said she remember that. She also said that she you’re probably feelin’ guilty about it now. I think our whole family is just so funny! I love listening to y’all tell stories!
And I won’t be asking for any stories from you, Rachel! I can only imagine what horrible things you’d come up with about me! haha, thanks for your help with my column title! Love you!!
That sounds like something dad would do!!!
